Brunch with Serves You Right! Catering

At Serves You Right!, we love creating memorable brunch celebrations for our clients. We recently hosted a beautiful brunch at a client’s Bel Air residence. As guests arrived they were greeted with our refreshing White Wine Sangria, which included seasonal strawberries and peaches.

After mingling the guests headed over to our main brunch station which included Roasted Tomato-Basil & Goat Cheese Quiche, Crispy Fingerling Potatoes, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Spring Quinoa Salad, and Grilled Artichokes.

Since having a variety of both vegan and gluten-free options was important to our client, we offered several items that fulfilled these requests, including Gluten Free Bagels, Vegan French Toast, Vegan Muffins, and Mango-Coconut Chia Seed Parfaits.

But the main attraction was our ever-popular omelet station, where guests are able to have their omelet cooked exactly to their specifications right in front of them.

For the perfect compliment to any brunch gathering, look no further than our mouthwatering menu options which are customized to meet every individual client's tastes.

In the Kitchen with Michele Gan

Each March Serves You Right! Catering owner, Michele Gan, looks forward to the arrival of delicious and fresh spring produce. So when she was approached to host a private cooking demonstration, she was thrilled to design a menu that featured all her favorite savory seasonal spring ingredients!

As a starter, Michele prepared a puree of fresh crushed peas and fava beans, which was paired with creamy burrata cheese and served with grilled bread and Marcona almonds.

Spring is the beginning of artichoke season, which is why she thought our grilled artichoke salad would be the perfect item to feature for the first course. The salad includes baby spinach, radicchio, pickled baby artichokes, whipped goat cheese, pine nuts and a shallot vinaigrette.

For the entree course, Michele prepared a beautiful pan seared Alaskan halibut with lemon caper sauce. It was served over a bed of asparagus risotto with sautéed Spring vegetables.

These three dishes encapsulate everything we love about savory spring produce. Stay tuned for something sweet!

A Brilliant Birthday Bash

Yesterday Serves You Right! Catering was delighted to coordinate an intimate birthday luncheon at a private West Hollywood penthouse.

Serves You Right! tapped Sweet Pea's Custom Floral to create beautiful centerpiece arrangements that incorporated some of our clients favorite flowers.

As guests arrived, they were treated to passed hors d’oeuvres and miniature boxes of popcorn, which were displayed in a vintage concession stand. The unique piece was later used for guest favors.

Guests were then invited to enjoy a special performance in honor of our client’s birthday. Following the performance, lunch was served in a four compartment plate. The meal included a kale & quinoa salad with citrus vinaigrette, roasted tomato soup with a grilled cheese wedge, grilled winter vegetable antipasti, and poached shrimp over a bed of cucumber & shaved radish.

What kind of birthday would it be without cake and ice cream? Serves You Right! Catering does everything to go above and beyond what is expected and ordinary to make your day spectacular, just like we did with these artisan ice cream sandwiches, seasonal berries and plates of assorted miniature desserts.

Oscar's Foreign Language Film Reception

This past weekend was Oscar weekend, and Serves You Right! Catering was honored to be asked to cater the Academy's Foreign Language Film Reception. We designed three beautiful food stations that featured local California produce and cuisine. The menu was tailored to include an array of items to satisfy the event's international clientele.

The first station, the Brasserie, included slow braised short ribs on crispy polenta cakes, Chilean sea bass with baby broccolini, asparagus bundles, parmesan fries and a kale & quinoa salad.

The second station was contemporary Asian themed, and included handmade potstickers, soba noodles, edamame, Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, and grapefruit & jicama salad.

We also presented a beautiful Sonoma station, featuring artisan cheeses, cured meats, fresh baked flatbread pizzas, and grilled seasonal vegetables.

For dessert we tray passed some delightful bite sized morsels, such as salted caramel honey-ganache tartlets, Tahitian vanilla bean crème brulee, lemon bars, chocolate flour-less brownie bites, and miniature red velvet cupcakes.
